Portland Community Media, which provides non-commercial, cable access programs to subscribers, is 25 years old this month.
About 750 donors and supporters celebrated the anniversary Nov. 18 at the Disjecta Art Center with music from Cubaneo, dance performances from Axé Didé and a video presentation.
The broadcast organization provides a variety of programming on six channels and in seven languages. Along with entertainment, current and community events, documentaries and educational programs, Portland Community Media broadcasts government meetings from the Portland City Council, Multnomah County Commission, Metro regional government and sessions from the Oregon State Legislature.
The broadcaster also provides community education classes on television production, storytelling, equipment training and editing, among others.

Dancers with the Axé Didé dance team performed

The team performs interpretations of Brazilian and
Cuban dances from both secular and sacred roots.
